Windows 8 is the latest and best release of the Windows the operating system, developed by Microsoft to be use on personal computers (home & business) desktops, laptops, tablets. Windows 8 is generally available for consumers on 26/10/2012.

Windows 8 launches new and up to date changes to be new operating platform.

There are many new things to explore in this new version of Windows.

1)      Your favourite Start Screen

 
a)      For your easy access you can pin applications, websites , shortcuts anything what you uses the most. Another benefit with this new start screen , you can get updated with its new tiles n notification which shows whats new  at a glance.

b)      You can easily search for what you want from the start screen, you can easily switch between applications from the start screen

c)       You can easily check all your applications on ur pc from start menu by right click then click all applications

d)     There are number of ways to get to Start, few quick ones are:

Ø  Click in the bottom-left corner of the screen with your mouse.

Ø  Windows logo key on a keyboard

Ø  For touch, swipe in from the right edge of your screen and tap the Start







2)      All new windows Application Store to discover latest apps

a)      Browse, search, install, and see popular paid n free apps which to find precisely what you need.

b)      To open the Windows Store just click or tap the Store on Start screen
 
 
3)      The charms - Search, Share, Start, Devices and Settings
 
 
 
 
 
Here's a brief view of what each charm does. You can even explore each charm to find out what else they can do. The charms appear on the right side of your screen. For charms Swipe in from the right edge or move your pointer into the top or bottom-right corner and then down to see them, then choose the one you want. Shortcut key – Windows logo key +C

a)      Use Search Charm to find what you’re looking for. Enter your desired  search term and quickly get results:-

Ø   the application you're using,

Ø   other applications,

Ø  the web

Ø   your PC

Ø  All from the same place.

Ø  Search for application Shortcut key - Windows logo key +Q

Ø  Search for settings Shortcut key - Windows logo key +W

Ø  Search for files Shortcut key - Windows logo key +F

b)      Use Share charm to send

Ø  Links

Ø  Photos

Ø   social networks

Ø  without leaving the application you’re in.

4)      Switch between applications

 

You can easily and quickly switch between your recent applications.

a)      Swipe in from the left edge (For touch)

b)      Move your pointer to the top-left corner and then click to switch to the next application.

c)       Or you can switch through short keys ie

Ø  Windows key + tab key on the keyboard

Ø  Alt + tab key

5)      For Using commands and context menu

 

a)      Right-click to see commands and context menus. Right-clicking on items often brings up options specific to that item.

6)      For Opening the Desktop

 

a)      Tap or Click the desktop tile on the start screen

c)       Shortcut key – Ctrl + Plus sign (on numpad) to zoom in

a)      Move your cursor to the upper-right or bottom-right corner to see the charms. When the charms appear, move up or down the edge, then click Settings. Click Power, then select a shutdown option.

b)      Shortcut key – Press Ctrl+Alt+Del. Then choose shut down button.

9)      Adding applications, websites and more to Start

 

a)      Applications you install from the windows application store will automatically pined to the start

b)      All other applications

Ø  Search app from the search charm then right click the application your desire and choose pin to start

10)   To install an app from the Windows Store

 
 

a)      Open Start

b)      Choose the Store.

c)       Search your desired app, choose buy, Try or Install.

11)   To install a program from a CD or DVD

a)      Insert the disc into your PC, then follow the instructions on your screen

b)      Note : If the program doesn't start installing automatically, check to see if it came with installation instructions. If it didn't come with instructions, you can browse through the folder structure of the disc and open the program setup file, usually called Setup.exe or Install.exe.
